Strings: Clyne, Mozart & Beethoven
Sep 13, 2025
Starting: 7:30 PM
A program spanning innovation, lyricism and intensity opens the New World Symphony’s new season at the New World Center.
Strings: Clyne, Mozart & Beethoven takes place Saturday, September 13. Violinist Alexander Kerr and violist Meredith Kufchak lead the performance, beginning with Anna Clyne’s Stride, a work inspired by Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata and early jazz piano. Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante highlights violin and viola as equal partners in a spirited dialogue, while Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11, “Serioso,” heard here in Mahler’s arrangement for string orchestra, balances intensity with a surprising final lightness. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish.
