Summer Opening: General Reception
Jun 07, 2025
From: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Experience two distinctive artistic perspectives that engage with themes of memory, ritual and identity through materially rich and visually intricate works.
The Summer Opening: General Reception at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU takes place on Saturday, June 7 and marks the debut of solo exhibitions by Yessica Gispert and Hiromi Moneyhun. Gispert’s Susurro uses layered materials—wax, resin, metal and photo chemicals—to evoke mysticism and examine the unseen forces behind resilience and ritual. The exhibition is supported by the Green Family Foundation.
In Floating Worlds, Hiromi Moneyhun, a self-taught artist from Kyoto, applies traditional Japanese kirie techniques to hand-cut paper compositions. Her reinterpretations of the ukiyo-e genre spotlight women as both powerful and ethereal figures, merging classical Japanese aesthetics with folkloric and modern influences. This exhibition is presented with support from the Dr. Jane H. Hsiao Endowment and Funding Arts Network.
Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.
