On Friday, November 1, the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music presents Sydney Guillaume & Frost Chorale at Gusman Concert Hall as part of its Signature Series. In this special homecoming performance, Haitian-born composer and Frost alumnus Sydney Guillaume will join forces with the Frost Chorale and the Frost High School Honor Choir. Conductor Matthew Brady and pianist Anita Castiglione will accompany the performance, which showcases Guillaume’s compositions alongside selections from the traditional choral repertoire.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and currently residing in Portland, Oregon, Sydney Guillaume is a renowned composer, conductor and clinician. His choral works are recognized for their intricate and passionate nature, resonating with audiences worldwide. Guillaume has conducted choirs across the U.S., including performances at the Lincoln Center in New York City and Carnegie Hall. He has also contributed original film scores for Loyola Productions in Los Angeles. As a Frost alumnus, Guillaume has a deep connection to the Frost Chorale, for whom he wrote his first choral piece over 20 years ago.
