Experience the alchemy of light and chemistry in an immersive workshop focused on the art of cyanotype at Oolite Arts on Miami Beach.
The Magic of Cyanotype, taking place Saturday, July 26, offers an in-depth exploration of this historic photographic process known for its distinctive Prussian blue prints. Participants will learn to coat paper, compose photograms using natural materials, and print from negatives while mastering techniques to control tone, contrast and exposure. The extended format allows time for experimentation, troubleshooting and guidance, making it ideal for both beginners and those with previous experience in alternative photography.
All consumable materials are provided, though attendees are encouraged to bring objects and negatives for use in their prints. A 30-minute break will be scheduled midday. The workshop is led by interdisciplinary artist and educator Jacoub Reyes, current Oolite Arts Live.In.Art Resident and President of the Florida Printmakers Society.
