A Cuban coming-of-age story about friendship and social contrasts comes to the screen at The Creative Yard with a free community screening of Habanastation.
Presented by Third Horizon and Cinemóvil, the film shows Saturday, September 27. Directed by Ian Padrón, Habanastation (2011) follows Mayito, a privileged boy from Havana, who becomes lost during the May Day celebrations and ends up in the working-class neighborhood of a classmate. What begins as an uneasy encounter evolves into a lesson in discovery and shared joy beyond material wealth.
Ian Padrón is a Cuban director and screenwriter recognized for his documentaries and short films. A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba, he is the son of director Juan Padrón. Habanastation is his acclaimed debut feature, noted for its exploration of social inequality and childhood resilience.
This screening is free and part of a community film series supported by The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation.
