Explore the intersection of art, craft, design and tradition through a unique exhibition that delves into the connections between memory, materials and meaning.
From May 9 to June 20, the This Summer Too: Conversations with Makers exhibition will be on view at the Monsignor William Barry Library at Barry University. Presented by the Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI), this six-week exhibition showcases works by artists such as Mike Speijers, Barbara Garvine, Lauren Austin, Joy Johnson, Robertha Blatt, Alida Martinez and Yossi Peled. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with art that is deeply rooted in ancestral knowledge and inspired by the stories materials tell.
The exhibition offers a space for reflection and dialogue, encouraging visitors to explore how objects and art provoke thoughts about self-expression, culture and heritage. An opening reception will be held on May 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., providing an opportunity to meet the artists and engage with the works on display. The event is part of DVCAI's ongoing efforts to connect the community with contemporary art and foster deeper conversations about identity and creativity.
