WALLCAST® Concert: We Chose to Go to the Moon
Apr 25, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
A multimedia concert at SoundScape Park explores the history and human stories behind America’s space race through music, film and narration. Taking place Saturday, April 25, We Chose to Go to the Moon is presented as part of the New World Symphony’s WALLCAST® series, projecting the performance onto the New World Center’s outdoor façade for a large-scale, open-air viewing experience.
Created and narrated by historian John Monsky and directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, the program combines archival imagery, personal accounts and period music to examine the ambition and impact of the space program. The performance features the Nu Deco Ensemble under the direction of Ian Weinberger, alongside vocalists interpreting songs associated with the era, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Rocket Man” and “Space Oddity.”
Free and open to the public, the event invites audiences to gather on the lawn for an evening concert, with space for blankets and picnics in a park setting.
