Explore the world of watercolors with Oolite Arts' 6-week course, Watercolor Techniques. This program, starting Thursday, July 11th, caters to both beginners and experienced artists, offering a comprehensive exploration of watercolor techniques to elevate your artistic journey.
Led by experienced artist Will McGaul, the course delves into various aspects of watercolor painting. Beginners will gain a solid foundation in color theory, brush handling and paper selection. Intermediate students will have the opportunity to refine their skills for better control and explore more advanced concepts.
The curriculum covers a diverse range of techniques, from the playful spontaneity of wet-on-wet painting to the meticulous detail achieved with wet-on-dry methods. You'll learn how to layer colors for depth and experiment with textures to add visual interest to your artwork. Intermediate students will be challenged with advanced resist techniques for unique effects.
Composition and perspective are also addressed, ensuring both beginners and intermediate students gain a strong foundation in these essential artistic principles. Color mixing takes center stage as well, with beginners learning the basics and intermediate students refining their understanding of color harmony to create more sophisticated palettes.
The course concludes with a focus on personal projects and critiques. This personalized approach allows beginners to build confidence and explore their creativity, while intermediate students receive valuable feedback to further refine their artistic style.
