We're Magic, We're Real (These Walls) Braiding Circle

Join the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Caribbean Cultural Institute (CCI) for a collaborative event on Saturday, September 21. As part of their Beyond Representation performance series, CCI is presenting We’re Magic. We’re Real # 3 (These Walls) Braiding Circle, an activation led by artist Jeannette Ehlers. This event invites Miami's Afro-Caribbean and Caribbean diaspora community to actively participate in the creation of six 52-foot-long braids, which will later be incorporated into a live performance.

Ehlers, an artist of Danish and Trinidadian descent, is known for her work that explores themes of decolonial hauntings, empowerment and healing. Her practice spans various mediums, including photography, video, and performance, often merging historical and collective narratives with personal and poetic elements.
