The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is a private, not-for-profit sales and marketing organization. Director of Research and Business Intelligence

Destination marketing organization seeking an experienced Director of Research and Business Intelligence. This position reports to the COO and also provides broad support to CEO and all GMCVB Leadership. The Director of Research and Business Intelligence will define and lead a complete information gathering and resource program to deliver market intelligence and performance information to enhance the GMCVB’s operations. Working directly with key departments and staff, the Director of Research will assure reliable and timely information critical to market, competitive analyses, tactical directions, establish and manage systems for data analysis and reporting, monitoring trends in visitor behavior, and creating and analyzing market surveys as well as directing the function of the Research and Business Intelligence Department. This position will lead the primary and secondary global research programs and activities for the bureau. In addition, it oversees the maintenance of up-to–date market indicators and other information relevant to the travel industry to assist the CVB and its members and management of GMCVB research partner and field research team. This position also plays a critical role in the development of the GMCVB Strategic Planning Process.

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with stakeholders
  • college degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, statistics, marketing, hospitality or closely related field.
  • Minimum five years in hospitality, tourism related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent presentation skills at all levels of an organization, demonstrated ability to perform metrics-based business analysis and strong analytical skills along with the ability to think strategically.
  • Proficiency in 365 Microsoft Suite Knowledgeable in designing a research project to meet the needs of business question and can find which approach best serves the purpose.
  • Ability to package results into actionable formats, and work cross-functionally to ensure the insights are well understood, correctly interpreted, and optimally applied.
  • Ability to manage resources to achieve projects goals within time and budget constraints.

Administrative Assistant

HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED

Primary Objective of the Position:

To provide multiple sales managers administrative support and to facilitate the operations of the Convention Sales Department of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Prepare, organize, and provide word processing services including but not limited to general correspondence, proposals, and various departmental reports to efficiently facilitate office operations.
  • Data entry to generate sales leads from sales managers to ensure that members have current information for generating business.
  • Process check requests, gift and service orders for upcoming meetings, conferences, tradeshows, trips ensuring that payment is received, if necessary, and brochures are delivered as required.
  • As requested, maintain tentative account files for sales managers to provide a monthly count of correspondence generated and ensure copies of correspondence are available as needed.
  • Prepare various reports (e.g. expense reports, outstanding tentative report) in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide general assistance to the sales manager in preparing site inspections, sales trips and tradeshows, etc. to ensure effective administrative support.
  • Provide back-up to other assistants as required due to work load, vacation, etc. to ensure that the work is completed on time.
  • As requested, handle and respond to GMCVB hotel partners.
  • Learn to operate main switchboard, and relieve receptionist as required.
  • Perform other responsibilities or special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

One year certificate from college or technical school; and one to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typing speed 60 wpm.

Computer Skills:

Must be proficient in use of Office Suite 365, spreadsheet and database programs operating in a windows environment.

Director, Travel Industry Sales & Marketing – Latin America & Caribbean

Destination marketing organization seeking an experienced Travel Industry Sales & Marketing Director with a proven track record. This person is responsible for developing, managing and executing the tourism activities and strategic marketing plans/programs to support sales, market share expansion, goals and objectives for the GMCVB. These programs are designed to sell and promote Greater Miami as a destination to the Latin American & Caribbean travel trade. Responsibilities include managing the GMCVB’s Latin America & Caribbean Representation offices; expanding Greater Miami’s products/programs across all travel industry segments; generating group leads for Miami hotels and the destination’s large meeting facilities; and collaborating on sales awareness initiatives alongside the GMCVB's Multicultural Tourism & Development team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field
  • minimum of 5 years hotel sales, destination sales or related work experience and group sales experience
  • Excellent command of English
  • Spanish and Portuguese is a plus. Candidate must possess good management skills including, management of projects and relationships, as well as an aptitude for marketing, advertising & media.
