The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and our dedicated LGBTQ+ Tourism Marketing Team strive to inform potential visitors, travel trade industry, and meeting delegates of the inclusive nature of our residents and our destination. Our organization offers LGBTQ+ Customer Service Training which aims to empower Greater Miami’s hospitality industry with personalized ways to engage LGBTQ+ customers. For years, we have advocated for LGBTQ+ tourism and have also provided area businesses and organizations with tools and training to better service our community. We want to make it abundantly clear — Greater Miami and Miami Beach welcomes all LGBTQ+ visitors and looks forward to their future visits.

Miami Begins with Me LGBTQ+  Customer Service Training

The MBWM LGBTQ+ Customer Service Training provides a fundamental understanding of the LGBTQ+ visitor. The session explores how preconceptions of gender and sexual orientation have shaped customer service practices. Examining these assumptions provides new awareness and actions that create authentic and welcoming experiences for all visitors. The program was developed in partnership with YES Institute, the industry source for knowledge on gender and orientation.

LGBT Visitor Center

The LGBT Visitor Center in Miami Beach, a partnership with the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, opens its doors with Pride to visitors from around the globe. Situated in the epicenter of LGBTQ+ activity in South Beach inside the historic Old City Hall building, the visitor center builds strong community by fostering social engagement and community wellness.

Pink Flamingo Hotel Certification

The Pink Flamingo Hotel Certification offered by our partners at the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, trains and certifies hospitality service professionals on gender and orientation and gives them tools to respond appropriately to all people, essential for creating environments where all visitors and employees are welcome.

Human Rights Campaign Municipal Equality Index

HRC's Municipal Equality Index (MEI) demonstrates the ways that many cities can—and do—support the LGBTQ people who live and work in our community. We are proud that several of our major municipalities participate in this program and have received recognition for their efforts and commitment. They include:

Miami-Dade County Commission on Human Rights

Miami-Dade County has a Commission on Human Rights (CHR) which is a quasi-judicial, as well as advisory, board charged with the enforcement of the Human Rights Ordinance, Chapter 11A of the Miami-Dade County Code or Ordinances as amended. The Human Rights Ordinance makes it unlawful to discriminate against any person in Miami-Dade County in employment; housing; public accommodations; and credit and financing practices on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, source of income, gender identity or expression, and/or status as a victim of domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking. • Aqua Foundation for Women: The mission of Aqua Foundation for Women is to serve and support the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and initiatives.
• IGLTA: The mission of IGLTA is to provide information and resources for LGBTQ+ travelers and expand LGBTQ+ tourism globally by demonstrating its significant social and economic impact.
• National LGBTQ Task Force: The National LGBTQ Task Force advances full freedom, justice, and equality for LGBTQ+ people. They are building a future where everyone can be free to be their entire selves in every aspect of their lives.
• Pridelines: Pridelines is a grassroots corporation, dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering South Florida’s LGBTQ+ youth and community in safe and diverse spaces.
• Safe Schools South Florida: Safe Schools South Florida’s mission is to create safer schools where all students can learn and thrive, regardless of real or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression — their own or that of their parents or guardians.
