Events and Education Chef - Eataly Aventura

Eataly’s on-site cooking school, La Scuola, is where guests learn and experience Italian cuisine through hands-on classes, demonstrations, and private events. The Events and Education Chef leads La Scuola programming—teaching, planning, preparing, and executing culinary events while overseeing kitchen operations and event staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Executive Chef and collaborate closely with the Events & Education Team.
- Manage kitchen staff for events, including prep cooks and line cooks.
- Teach a variety of demonstration and hands-on cooking classes for public and private groups.
- Plan and oversee breakfast, lunch, and dinner events, including 3–4 course menus, family-style dining, cocktail receptions, and buffet-style receptions.
- Prepare, demonstrate, and execute menu items for La Scuola (primarily savory; occasional dessert execution required).
- Supervise food production for events in collaboration with back-of-house teams; portion proteins, produce, and desserts while using surplus effectively to control food costs.
- Train, coach, and provide feedback to event kitchen staff, ensuring consistent health, safety, and quality standards.
- Oversee mise en place for all stations and maintain cleanliness and organization of the La Scuola kitchen.
- Communicate menu changes, specials, shortages, allergies, and dietary restrictions to front-of-house personnel.
- Plan events and develop menus with the Education & Events team, Executive Chef, front-of-house teams, and clients when needed.
- Purchase or submit requisitions for food items, kitchen supplies, and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $28.00
Qualifications
- 4+ years of cooking experience, including 1+ year of management experience.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, food production procedures, and safety/sanitation regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort speaking in front of large groups.
- In-depth knowledge of Italian cuisine and culture.
- Italian language skills highly preferred.
