Location: Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC)
Salary: $95,000 – $110,000 annually

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Venue Operations, the Assistant Director supports the overall leadership and management of engineering, maintenance, and operational functions at the MBCC and its campus. This role ensures building systems operate at peak performance, remain event-ready, and that teams and contract partners deliver exceptional service. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and event operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety) and oversee trade staff.
- Support contract management and enforce service standards with vendors and partners.
- Lead preventive maintenance programs, inspections, SOP development, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Event Services to ensure venue readiness and seamless event execution.
- Assist with capital projects, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Manage departmental budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control measures.
- Drive sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Foster a culture of safety, development, and customer service within a union environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, venue management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in venue operations (convention centers, arenas, or hospitality).
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role managing trades personnel.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, chiller systems, building safety, and energy management.
- Certifications: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, OSHA (10/30), and Project Management preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, building automation, and CRM systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; union experience a plus.
