100 Years of Blues: Elvin Bishop & Charlie Muselwhite Duo

Slide guitar, blues harmonica and lived-in storytelling come together in an intimate duo performance by Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite, joined by Bob Welsh. The concert takes place Friday, April 2, at the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of the 2026-27 Jazz Roots Series. The program draws from Bishop and Musselwhite’s collaborative album 100 Years of Blues, pairing roots music with conversation shaped by more than a century of combined professional experience.

Bishop first gained national recognition with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band before establishing a solo career that blended Chicago blues, rock, country and wry songwriting. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame inductee, he is known for his slide guitar work and recordings including “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”

Musselwhite emerged from Chicago’s early-1960s blues scene, performing alongside figures such as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf before becoming one of the genre’s leading harmonica players. The Grammy winner and fellow Blues Hall of Fame inductee brings a style rooted in Mississippi, Memphis and Chicago traditions. Together, the musicians offer a stripped-down evening of blues, improvisation and stories gathered across decades on the road.
