808 Life: DJ Assault + DJ Godfather

Detroit ghettotech meets Miami bass and electro during a late-night 808 Life takeover at The Ground. Held Saturday, November 7, the lineup is headed by Detroit pioneers DJ Assault and DJ Godfather, with support from Roll-E b2b Soltek, Sad MC’s featuring SEL.6 and Alexx in Chainss and N-Hance b2b Medley.

DJ Assault helped carry Detroit’s fast, bass-heavy fusion of techno, electro, house and hip-hop beyond its hometown during the 1990s, while DJ Godfather became another defining figure in the city’s ghettotech movement through his rapid-fire turntablism, productions and influential Twilight 76 and Databass labels. The Miami contingent reflects the city’s own low-end lineage: 808 Life founder Soltek moves through electro, breaks and Miami bass, Roll-E combines bass and electro with live elements and SEL.6 draws on electro, jungle, techno and breaks in a style she describes as Floridacore.

Presented by Miami-based 808 Life, a DJ collective, record label and events platform focused on bass-driven underground electronic music, the night also features longtime South Florida electro and bass selectors N-Hance and Medley alongside Alexx in Chainss. Admission is limited to ages 21 and older, and tickets for The Ground do not include access to the Club Space Terrace.
