A Night of Afrobeat & Latin Jazz
Aug 30, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Afrobeat, Latin jazz and global rhythms connect a free evening of music across Lummus Park and The Betsy - South Beach on Miami Beach. Taking place Sunday, August 30, the program begins with the Diaspora Vibe Afro Beat All Stars as part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series, then continues at The Betsy with pianist and composer Edgar Pantoja and guest musicians. The evening is presented in connection with From Venice with Love: Edouard Duval-Carrié Retrospective, currently on view at the hotel.
Led by Gordon Meyers, Diaspora Vibe Afro Beat All Stars draws on vintage Afrobeat, soul and modern jazz while highlighting musical traditions shaped by the African diaspora. Their outdoor performance runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lummus Park.
Music continues at The Betsy from 6 to 11 p.m., where Pantoja and guest artists blend Cuban traditions including rumba, son and timba with jazz, funk, samba and Moroccan Gnawa influences. The program is produced in partnership with The Betsy Writers Room, FIU’s Public Humanities Lab, Iris Photo Collective and Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator, with support from Pérez CreARTE. Admission is free and open to the public.
