A Place Of Rage Film Screening
Feb 12, 2025
From: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Explore pivotal moments in civil rights history through the lens of influential African American women activists and writers. The award-winning documentary A Place of Rage screens Wednesday, February 12 at the Dana A. Dorsey House, presented by Highlander Center in partnership with My Urban Contemporary Experience (MUCE).
This 1991 documentary by Pratibha Parmar features rare interviews with Angela Davis, June Jordan and Alice Walker, who reflect on the revolutionary impact of figures like Rosa Parks and Fannie Lou Hamer. Their discussions examine the interconnections between civil rights, Black power, feminist movements and LGBTQ+ advocacy.
The screening is part of Highlander Center's Off The Hill series, which uses film to spark community dialogue about social change. This free event aligns with the center's long-standing mission of bringing diverse groups together to address community challenges and build more equitable systems.
