Ailey II: The Next Generation of Dance

Ailey II returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center with an evening that highlights the company’s next generation of dancers and its forward-looking approach to modern dance.

The performance brings the celebrated second company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater back to the Knight Concert Hall with repertory that spans emotional storytelling, formal innovation and the athleticism that has defined Ailey II for more than five decades. The program will spotlight South Florida native Jordyn White, who joined the company in 2024, alongside the full ensemble under the direction of Artistic Director Francesca Harper.

As part of the Arsht Center’s Dance at Arsht Series, the Miami engagement will feature a curated selection of works from Ailey II’s national touring repertory. Recent commissions include Rena Butler’s In Session, Renée I. McDonald’s Likes vs Life, Chalvar Monteiro’s Chuck Berry–inspired Berry Dreamin’ and My’Kal Stromile’s Third Person Point of View. The company’s broader repertory also includes works by Baye & Asa, Francesca Harper, Judith Jamison, Houston Thomas and signature pieces from Alvin Ailey.

Founded in 1974 to bridge The Ailey School and the professional stage, Ailey II continues to nurture rising talent while expanding the possibilities of contemporary dance.
