Explore the evolving sound of American orchestral music in a program that honors both national heritage and Miami’s cultural pulse.
American Promise will be performed by the Miami Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, March 8 in the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Conducted by Maestro Eduardo Marturet, the program reflects on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through a mix of new and classic works.
The evening features the South Florida premiere of Karen LeFrak’s American Promise, a contemporary work inspired by ideals of unity and progress. Also on the program is the world premiere of An American in Miami, a 2026 MISO commission by Costa Rican composer Marcos Campos Salas that offers a lively and humorous take on the city’s identity. The concert concludes with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, a cornerstone of the American symphonic tradition.
