An Evening with David Sheff
Mar 20, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
Take a fresh look at one of music's most misunderstood cultural figures through the eyes of a writer who has known her for over four decades. An Evening with David Sheff will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at Books & Books in Coral Gables, where the #1 New York Times bestselling author will discuss his new biography, Yoko: The Biography (Simon & Schuster, $30).
Drawing from his extensive personal relationship with Yoko Ono and John Lennon, which began with interviews conducted months before Lennon's death in 1980, Sheff presents a comprehensive portrait that stretches far beyond Ono's connection to The Beatles. The biography traces her journey from pre-war Tokyo to her emergence in the avant-garde art scenes of London, Tokyo and New York City, exploring her contributions to art, music, feminism and activism along the way.
Sheff, known for his memoir Beautiful Boy and his award-winning journalism in publications like The New York Times and Rolling Stone, brings his investigative depth to this project. Through interviews with Ono's family, friends and collaborators, he reconstructs nine decades of a life that challenges popular misconceptions and reveals the artist John Lennon once called "the world's most famous unknown artist."
