An Evening with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman
Jul 02, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
Gain firsthand insight into the failures and future of Western foreign policy from a key figure in U.S. national security circles. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman presents his latest book, The Folly of Realism: How the West Deceived Itself About Russia and Betrayed Ukraine, in a public conversation hosted at Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ.
Taking place Wednesday, July 2, An Evening with Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman explores how decades of Western miscalculations enabled Russia’s return to aggressive expansionism. Drawing on his experience as director for European Affairs on the White House National Security Council and his time at U.S. embassies in Moscow and Kyiv, Vindman outlines how short-term political thinking undermined democratic values and contributed to the crisis in Ukraine. His book pairs detailed analysis with firsthand accounts and interviews from Washington and international leaders.
Vindman is also the author of the bestselling memoir Here, Right Matters and currently serves as a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute. This event is presented by the Books & Books Literary Foundation. Copies of The Folly of Realism will be available for purchase at the venue.
