An Evening with Salman Rushdie & Rachel Eliza Griffiths
Nov 16, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Love, loss and the stories people leave behind connect two books by Salman Rushdie and Rachel Eliza Griffiths. The authors discuss their work on Monday, November 16 as part of Miami Book Fair’s Evenings With series at the Chapman Conference Center on Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami.
Rushdie’s novels include the Booker Prize–winning Midnight’s Children and The Satanic Verses. In The Eleventh Hour: A Quintet of Stories, he explores mortality, legacy and identity through five tales set in India, England and the United States. Its characters include a musical prodigy whose gifts become destructive and a young writer investigating the mysterious disappearance of his mentor.
In The Flower Bearers: A Memoir, poet, novelist and visual artist Griffiths considers grief through two defining relationships: her friendship with poet Kamilah Aisha Moon and her marriage to Rushdie. Moon’s sudden death on the couple’s wedding day, followed eleven months later by the attack on Rushdie, frames a personal account of friendship, love and loss.
Tickets are $20 per person and do not include either book. Each Evenings With ticket includes a complimentary pass to the weekend Street Fair. All attendees must undergo a bag check and security screening before entering the venue.
