An Evening With Samara Joy comes to the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center on Thursday, February 12, presented as part of the Jazz Roots series. Known for her expressive interpretations of classic standards, Joy draws inspiration from vocal icons like Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter while crafting a sound all her own.
A Bronx native, Joy has quickly become one of the most acclaimed vocalists of her generation. Her 2024 release Portrait showcases her songwriting alongside inventive arrangements of works by Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and Barry Harris—highlighting both her musical fluency and emotional range.
