An Evening With Tony Shalhoub & Josie Adams
Nov 15, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Family recipes and stories from a Lebanese American household are at the center of a conversation with actor Tony Shalhoub and his daughter, writer and producer Josie Adams. Presented as part of Miami Book Fair, the event takes place Sunday, November 15 at the Chapman Conference Center at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. The pair discusses their book, We Thought They’d Never Leave: Musings on Food and Family.
The memoir draws on Shalhoub’s upbringing as one of 10 children in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the family’s annual summer reunion in Door County. Through recipes and recollections, it considers how shared meals and gatherings carry family history across generations.
An Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe winner, Shalhoub is known for Monk, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Wings. His Broadway work includes The Band’s Visit, which earned him the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Adams is the founder of the independent production company House of Water, with writing credits in McSweeney’s and Bon Appétit.
The session is held in Building 3, second floor, Room 3210. A $35 ticket includes admission for one person and a copy of the book. One $10 companion ticket, which does not include a book, is available per book-bundled ticket. Both ticket types also include a pass to the weekend Street Fair.
