Arroz con Mango: The Secret Lives of Three Writers

An evening of literature, conversation and art unfolds at Books & Books in Coral Gables, where acclaimed Cuban and Latin American voices take center stage. Arroz con Mango: The Secret Lives of Three Writers features readings and a Q&A with authors Cristina García, Ana Menéndez and Virgil Suárez, alongside an art exhibition curated by Elvia Rosa Castro.

García, author of the celebrated novel Dreaming in Cuban and seven other works, brings stories of exile, family and identity that have resonated worldwide. Menéndez, winner of a Pushcart Prize, shares her sharp and imaginative fiction rooted in cultural intersections and global experience. Suárez, an award-winning poet and professor, contributes powerful verse shaped by memory, migration and Cuban-American life. Castro complements the evening with her curatorial vision, presenting artwork that deepens the dialogue between literature and visual culture.

This free event takes place Friday, September 5. Proceeds benefit the Books & Books Literary Foundation, with books and artwork available for purchase.
