Arsht Plus: Rhythm & Roots

Cuban and Latin American music, dance and cultural traditions fill the Adrienne Arsht Center during a free, weeklong program inspired by the South Florida premiere of Buena Vista Social Club. Arsht Plus: Rhythm & Roots runs Tuesday, September 29 through Sunday, October 4, with live performances, DJs, dancing, domino games, local artisans and pop-up vendors across the Center’s public spaces.

The music lineup brings together local and international artists spanning Cuban, Afro-Cuban and Latin sounds. Featured performers include Yissy García, Leslie Cartaya, Palo!, Cortadito, OKAN, Julio Montalvo y El Huracán de Miami, Mr. Pauer, Magela Herrera, Pedrito Calvo Jr. and others.

Inside the Arsht, exhibitions, artifacts and photography explore Cuban culture and history through collaborations with community partners including Conecta Miami Arts, Miami Dade College’s Freedom Tower and Florida International University’s Public Humanities Lab.

Rhythm & Roots is presented in conjunction with the Broadway in Miami engagement of Buena Vista Social Club. Festival programming is free and open to all ages, while tickets to the Broadway production are sold separately.
