Artists in Conversation: The World of Nikolai Medtner
May 01, 2027
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Nikolai Medtner’s intricate, lyrical piano music comes into focus through conversation and performance with American pianist Stephen Beus. Presented by the Miami International Piano Festival, The World of Nikolai Medtner takes place Saturday, May 1, 2027 at the Miami Beach Woman’s Club as part of its Artists in Conversation series.
A contemporary of Rachmaninoff, Medtner combined Russian Romantic expression with interwoven melodic lines and demanding piano writing. The evening explores this musical world with Beus, whose interpretations emphasize the relationship between technical complexity, structure and emotional expression. Specific repertoire has not yet been announced.
Beus won first prizes at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Vendome Prize International Competition. His career includes a Carnegie Hall debut with the Juilliard Orchestra, international recital appearances and recordings on Harmonia Mundi and Centaur Records.
Tickets are available online and at the box office beginning one hour before the performance.
