Arts Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker: Sensory Inclusive
Dec 13, 2026
Starting: 11:00 AM
An abridged, sensory-inclusive production of The Nutcracker offers a welcoming introduction to classical ballet for families and audience members with sensory sensitivities. The performance takes place Sunday, December 13 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, with Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presenting a 60-minute version of the holiday ballet under the artistic direction of Vladimir Issaev. The production is designed for children and adults on the autism spectrum, individuals with developmental disabilities and guests who may benefit from a more supportive theater environment.
Adjustments to the performance include reduced sound levels, no flashing or strobe lights and minimal special effects. A Sensory Quiet Room adjacent to the theater will be available, with a specially trained therapist on site to provide audience support as needed.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s score, The Nutcracker follows a Christmas Eve celebration that leads into a dreamlike journey of toys, dancing sweets and seasonal fantasy. Complimentary pre-show arts and crafts activities provided by Young at Art Museum begin one hour before the performance, and a post-show character meet and greet is planned. Everyone entering the theater must have a ticket, with lap tickets for children 12 months and under available only through the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Box Office.
