Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. Trio

Classical technique, jazz improvisation and Caribbean and Latin rhythms converge in a free outdoor performance by the Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. Trio. The concert takes place Sunday, August 9 at 6 p.m. in Lummus Park between 14th Street and 14th Place in Miami Beach. Presented by the Ocean Drive Association, the program is part of the weekly Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series.

Haitian-American pianist, composer and recording artist Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. leads the trio through music shaped by his training in classical piano, jazz and composition. His performance background includes appearances at Carnegie Hall, Judson’s Live in Orlando and the NFL Pro Bowl Halftime Show.

Guests can bring a picnic, blanket or lawn chair for seating on the lawn. Admission is free. In case of rain, the performance will move indoors to The Betsy Hotel.
