Baila Nova Plays Jobim
Feb 27, 2027
From: 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Bossa nova, samba and Latin grooves shape a centennial tribute to Brazilian composer Antônio Carlos Jobim in the open-air Banyan Bowl. The concert takes place Saturday, February 27 at Pinecrest Gardens as part of the fifth annual Tropical Nights series. The program revisits Jobim’s music through Baila Nova’s Brazilian Vintage Revival style.
Fronted by Barcelona-born vocalist Laura Vall, the quartet blends classic bossa nova with a more dance-oriented sound. Guitarist David Irelan, bassist Thomas Hjorth and drummer Papagni complete the group, which formed in Los Angeles in 2011 and adopted its current name following a European tour in 2023.
UNCORKED!, a pre-show wine tasting, begins at 6 p.m. in the Colonnade. Season subscriptions go on sale in July and August, while single-show tickets are scheduled for release in September.
