Where to Eat In The Design District

Colorful and seasonal dishes at Le Jardinier

Where to Eat In The Miami Design District

By Melissa Puppo - August 05, 2026

The Miami Design District is one of the most stylish neighborhoods in Greater Miami and Miami Beach, beloved for its luxury boutiques, sleek design showrooms and striking public art. It’s also a top dining destination that’s home some of the best restaurants in Miami, from classic Italian and intimate omakase experiences to modern Korean steakhouses and even a two-starred MICHELIN stunner. Here are our picks for the best Miami Design District restaurants to enjoy after a day of gallery hopping and shopping.

Counter seating at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon
Take a seat at the chef's counter at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon.

    L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon

The late Joël Robuchon’s namesake restaurant, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, is the first and only two-starred MICHELIN restaurant in Miami, so booking a reservation here is a no-brainer, especially for a special occasion. Robuchon’s protégés keep the contemporary French cuisine alive with a menu of gorgeous signature dishes and ever-changing seasonal creations.

Dinner might feature crispy skin duck breast with rhubarb compote or crispy langoustine served with basil coulis, followed by Guanaja chocolate crémeux and white chocolate ice cream with cookie crumble. The dining counter fits just 34 seats, all of which offer intimate views of the open kitchen, so you can watch in awe as your meal comes alive.

Dimly lit dining room at Mother Wolf restaurant
Experience handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza by a James Beard–nominated chef.

    Mother Wolf

An homage to Rome’s mythological origin story of Remus, Romulus and the Lupa Capitolina, Mother Wolf showcases Roman cuisine via handmade pastas, thin wood-fired pizzas and hyper-seasonal ingredients inside its kitchen, helmed by two-time James Beard-nominated chef Evan Funke.

Start your meal with classics like tonarelli cacio e pepe and mezzi rigatoni alla carbonara, made with hand-rolled pasta inside the restaurant’s glass-walled “pasta lab.” You’ll be wowed by the glamorous Murano glass chandeliers, white terrazzo floors and gold marble tables while your meal continues with grilled whole branzino with artichoke heart salad and fried potatoes with fennel pollen.

Tables and booths at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink
Savor great food made with seasonal ingredients at Michael's Genuine.

    Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink

Since 2007, James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz has been wowing crowds with farm-to-table cooking and inventive desserts at his unfussy outpost, Michael’s Genuine. Locals and visitors alike come specifically for a seat at the bar, where happy hour bites and drink specials run Sunday through Friday. (Do order the thick-cut potato chips and onion dip.)

Of course, if you’re stopping by any other time of day, you’ll want to explore dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients, like stone crab or wood-roasted local red snapper with Fairchild mangos in the summer. As for the breezy courtyard, it’s an ideal place to take in crowds strolling through the buzzy fashion corridor, plus weekly live jazz.

    Lobster roll at Le Jardinier
Experience French-inspired cuisine at Le Jardinier.

    Le Jardinier

French for “gardener,” Le Jardinier connects guests to nature through quality vegetables, seasonal ingredients and the freshest herbs. Grab a seat in the light-filled dining room dotted with green decor accents to enjoy a delightful sampling of dishes, each one more creative than the last.

Plates rotate throughout the year at this one-star MICHELIN restaurant to ensure peak freshness – think sea bass crudo with cantaloupe, cucumber and aguachile, or lobster in bisque sauce with seasonal mushrooms. Save room for a playful French dessert, like the raspberry millefeuille made with white chocolate chantilly, lemon mascarpone and raspberry compote.

    Sushi Yasu Tanaka

Nigiri is the highlight at Sushi Yasu Tanaka, the brainchild of renowned chef Yasu Tanaka. Since opening inside the MIA Market food hall in 2020, the MICHELIN-recommended hotspot has become a go-to for traditional Japanese sushi with a modern twist.

Sushi rice is made fresh every two hours to complement everything from fatty tuna and yellow tail to torched wagyu beef and sea urchin. Cooked fish is prepared on a bincho-an, a Japanese charcoal grill, to bring out its natural flavors. We recommend ordering the omakase, which includes 10 pieces of chef’s selection bites and a hand roll at a great value.

    Butcher's feast at COTE
Experience the ultimate butcher's feast at COTE.

    COTE Miami

COTE Miami, America’s first and only MICHELIN-starred Korean steakhouse, is a stunner in its own right. Unlike other Korean barbecue spots where you cook the food yourself, COTE’s servers tend to the built-in, smokeless charcoal grill at your table, so you can kick back knowing your premium cuts are being prepared to perfection.

Go for the Butcher’s Feast to sample four select cuts of USDA Prime and American wagyu beef with Korean accompaniments. COTE also offers a full à la carte menu where you can order from premium cuts of steak, seafood and sides. The moody dining room is an experience in itself and a great space for date night, celebrations and more.

Cozy outdoor patio at Mandolin Bistro
Discover the charm of Mandolin Aegean Bistro.

    Mandolin Aegean Bistro

Flavors of Greece and the western coast of Turkey inspire Mandolin Aegean Bistro, a Miami Design District favorite housed in a restored 1940s home. Guests enjoy sitting on the shaded outdoor patio and savoring a crisp glass of white before deciding on what to order.

The menu highlights local ingredients, with options that span grilled halloumi and watermelon in a lambrusco vinaigrette, red prawn and Greek spaghetti and whole Mediterranean sea bass. Mandolin is a popular spot, so reservations are recommended.
