Basel: SlapFunk

Swinging drums and bass-heavy grooves connect house, UK garage and breaks in SlapFunk’s approach to underground dance music. The Dutch record label and party series comes to Jolene Sound Room Miami on Friday, December 4 as part of Jolene Basel 2026 programming during Miami Art Week.

SlapFunk grew out of informal parties organized by friends in Utrecht who wanted a place to hear music missing from the local club circuit. Now closely associated with Amsterdam’s underground scene, it has expanded into an international event series and a label with releases by artists including Samuel Deep, Huerta and Mella Dee. Its musical identity emphasizes funk and rhythmic swing across genres.

Jolene occupies the basement beneath Julia & Henry’s in Downtown Miami, with an intimate setting inspired by midcentury recording studios and 1970s lounges. Lineup to be announced. Admission is limited to guests ages 21 and older.
