Smoke, live judging and three barbecue challenges bring pitmasters and backyard grillers together for a seasonal competition at The Berry Farm in Homestead. The annual three-part series runs from noon to 5 p.m. on select Sundays from January through April. Each round centers on a different cut of meat paired with a mystery ingredient, testing competitors’ technique, creativity and flavor.
The 2027 competition schedule includes:
- January 17: Boston butt and a mystery ingredient
- February 21: St. Louis-style ribs and a mystery ingredient, held during the 7th Annual Strawberry Festival
- April 4: Brisket prepared in any style and a mystery ingredient
Visitors can watch the teams cook and present their entries for judging, then purchase barbecue dishes while exploring the farm’s seasonal activities. The outdoor series offers a family-friendly setting for following the competition and sampling South Florida barbecue.
