Bill’s 44th: A Comic Puppet Play for Grown-ups

A birthday party with no guests becomes the setting for an offbeat adult puppet comedy about loneliness, expectation and the passage of time at The Moss Center. Bill’s 44th is presented Friday, April 9 through Sunday, April 11, with performances Friday and Saturday evenings and a Sunday matinee.

Created and performed by puppeteers Dorothy James and Andy Manjuck, the show uses multiple puppetry styles, balloons and everyday party objects to bring the anxious title character and his increasingly strange celebration to life. As Bill waits for his guests to arrive, the party gradually shifts into a surreal exploration of social isolation, impatience and the ways people cope when expectations go awry.

The 55-minute production is intended for audiences ages 18 and older and includes lighthearted depictions of alcohol and marijuana use.
