Dec 11, 2026 - Dec 13, 2026
Daily through Dec 13, 2026
Fri: 7:30 PM | Sat: 2 PM | Sun: 5 PM
Gospel music, African dance and a multigenerational cast retell the journey of Mary and Joseph through an African American cultural lens. Brévo Theatre brings Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity to the Carnival Studio Theater at the Adrienne Arsht Center from Friday, December 11, through Sunday, December 13. Returning for its third season, the company’s holiday production features a refreshed script, expanded storytelling and a newly envisioned Nativity scene.
Directed by Terrence “TM” Pride and Zaylin Yates, with choreography by Pride, this interpretation places family and the connections between generations at its center. The story explores faith, shared traditions and the church’s role as a spiritual and communal gathering place. Updated costumes and staging accompany the gospel performances and dance.
Presented by Brévo Theatre and the Arsht Center, the production offers three performances:
- Friday, December 11: 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, December 12: 2 p.m.
- Sunday, December 13: 5 p.m.
The production welcomes all ages. Every attendee requires a ticket, regardless of age.
