Blessing Of The Pets

Pets and their families can take part in an outdoor blessing inspired by St. Francis of Assisi and his teachings on the connection between people, animals and the natural world. The gathering takes place Saturday, October 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary in Homestead. The morning offers a setting for celebrating animal companions, remembering pets that have died and meeting other members of the community.

Guests may bring a pet for the blessing or carry a photograph or keepsake in memory of a past companion. Activities also include designated photo stations, time to explore the sanctuary grounds and opportunities to learn about Patch of Heaven’s work protecting native ecosystems.

All types of pets are welcome, but animals must remain leashed or secured in a carrier, behave comfortably around people and other animals and be current on vaccinations. Attendees should bring water, waste bags and any comfort items their pets may need.
