BLUE Concert: Game, Set, Music
Jan 20, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
A playful concert themed around sports, games and moments of suspense brings the Fellows of the New World Symphony to the stage for an evening that connects music with the rituals of competition.
The program draws inspiration from the tension and rhythm of athletic events, from the quiet anticipation before a tennis serve to the collective pause of a crowd awaiting the final pitch. Works on the program include Gene Koshinski’s Dance of the Drums, Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio, and Connor Shafran’s The Game of the Century, alongside Osvaldo Golijov’s tango-inflected Last Round and Elliott Carter’s Gra. A highlight of the evening is John Cage’s 4’33’’, inviting audiences to experience silence as sound, as well as an orchestral singalong of the classic “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
BLUE Concert: Game, Set, Music takes place Tuesday, January 20 at the New World Symphony. The concert is pay-what-you-wish, with a suggested ticket price of $10.
