Braxton Cook + Butcher Brown
Mar 19, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to midnight
Two forward-thinking acts rooted in modern jazz, soul and groove-driven experimentation come together for an open-air night at ZeyZey Miami.
Braxton Cook brings a sound shaped by transition, reflection and fluid genre boundaries. A saxophonist, vocalist, producer and songwriter, Cook has steadily carved out a space where jazz, R&B and soulful songwriting coexist without hierarchy. His recent work, including Not Everyone Can Go, reflects a period of personal and creative recalibration, pairing warm melodic instincts with thoughtful lyricism and jazz-informed musicianship. Known for live performances that balance technical command with emotional clarity, Cook’s music sits comfortably between late-night introspection and rhythmic lift.
Sharing the bill, Butcher Brown draws from Virginia’s musical and cultural landscape to create a sound that feels both expansive and grounded. The Richmond-based quintet blends jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B into a cohesive, highly adaptive language, shaped by years of collaboration and constant evolution. Their latest release, Letters from the Atlantic, moves like a sonic travelogue along the East Coast, weaving house, dance and jazz elements alongside contributions from a wide range of contemporary artists. The result is music that feels exploratory yet deeply rooted, driven by instinct rather than genre.
The performance takes place Thursday, March 19, from 7 p.m. to midnight at ZeyZey Miami, an open-air cultural venue known for globally minded music programming. Guests can enjoy a curated beverage menu featuring seasonal cocktails, natural wines and non-alcoholic options, with on-site dining by Tacos María, serving grass-fed, seed-oil-free tacos with a focus on bold flavor and thoughtful sourcing.
