Celebrate Fête Gede
Oct 31, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Haitian traditions of honoring ancestors provide the cultural setting for an evening of art, music and food at The Betsy – South Beach. Taking place Saturday, October 31 in Miami Beach, Fête Gede marks the closing celebration of From Venice with Love, a program centered on the work of Haitian-born, Miami-based artist Edouard Duval-Carrié.
Rooted in African ancestral traditions and Haitian Vodou, Fête Gede honors the dead and the bonds between generations. The Betsy’s gathering features music by DJ Gardy, Kreyòl paella prepared on site and Duval-Carrié’s artwork throughout the galleries, with projections illuminating The Betsy Orb. His work explores migration, memory and Caribbean histories through imagery that draws on Vodou symbolism.
Guests are encouraged to wear attire inspired by the tradition, including top hats or bowler hats, purple scarves and white, purple or black face paint. Costumed guests receive one complimentary rum cocktail courtesy of Bacardi.
