Mar 21, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Courage and perseverance in the face of workplace discrimination come to life on screen in a new drama based on true events. Celebrating Women Who Communicate: Lilly offers a free screening of the acclaimed film Lilly on Friday, March 21 from 6-9 p.m. at the Bill Cosford Cinema, Dooly Memorial 225 at the University of Miami.
The event begins with a 6:15 p.m. fireside chat featuring University of Miami alumna and executive producer Jayne Sherman. Following the discussion, attendees will view the dramatic feature film starring Patricia Clarkson, John Benjamin Hickey and Thomas Sadoski, which tells the true story of Lilly Ledbetter, an Alabama tire factory worker who fought for justice after experiencing two decades of workplace mistreatment and pay discrimination.
Directed by Rachel Feldman, the film has already received significant recognition, winning Best of the Fest at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Anti-Defamation League's Stand Up Award at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
This screening, organized in honor of Women's History Month, chronicles one woman's emotional journey and her stand against powerful corporate and political forces, highlighting the significant impact an individual can have on society. While admission is free, registration is required.
