Operetta’s mix of romance, wit and theatrical flair comes into focus in a program of arias and scenes performed by the FIU Opera Workshop. Champagne, Laughter & Love: An Evening of Operetta Favorites takes place Thursday, April 14 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center as part of the FIU Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts 2026-2027 season. The program draws from operettas from around the world, highlighting the genre’s blend of lyrical singing, comic situations and lighthearted drama.
Presented by FIU Opera Workshop, the performance gives student singers the opportunity to explore contrasting characters and styles through selected scenes rather than a single full-length work.
