A true story of unexpected hospitality after September 11 unfolds through Celtic-inflected music and an ensemble cast as part of Actors’ Playhouse’s Mainstage season at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables. Running Wednesday through Sunday from January 27 through February 21, Come From Away recounts how the small community of Gander, Newfoundland welcomed nearly 7,000 airline passengers whose flights were diverted there following the attacks.
Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the Tony Award-winning musical follows residents and travelers whose lives intersect over several days, tracing friendships and connections formed amid uncertainty. Its folk- and Celtic-inspired score accompanies an ensemble-driven story centered on generosity, cultural exchange and resilience.
Select performances include additional programming. Thursday evenings feature a pre-show happy hour at the Bacardi Bar, while the Friday, February 5 performance is followed by a cast and director Q&A. The Sunday, February 21 matinee offers audio description for audience members who are blind or have low vision.
