Aug 15, 2026
From: 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM
A guided hike and snorkeling excursion explores the coastal and marine ecosystems of Crandon Park’s Bear Cut Preserve. The program takes place Saturday, August 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with Miami EcoAdventures naturalists leading participants through dunes, hardwood hammock and shoreline habitats before heading into the water. Along the way, guides discuss native plants and wildlife, coastal protection and conservation efforts connecting the preserve’s terrestrial and marine environments.
The 1.25-mile hiking portion follows gravel and sand paths before participants transition to snorkeling in shallow seagrass beds and around a fossilized mangrove reef. Water safety and rescue-trained staff accompany the group, with a safety briefing provided before entering the water.
The excursion is designed for ages 9 and older, and participants must be able to swim. Anyone younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Programs are subject to minimum enrollment and suitable weather and environmental conditions.
