Cuba en la Memoria: Música, Arte y Poesía

Live piano, poetry and projected artwork come together in a multidisciplinary program exploring Cuban cultural memory through the arts. Held Sunday, October 25 at the Coral Gables Museum, Cuba en la Memoria: Música, Arte y Poesía features 19th- and 20th-century Cuban repertoire performed by N Blanco Y Negro Piano Duo.

Pianists Mirta Gómez and Sahily Cánovas perform works including Manuel Saumell’s Cuban contradanzas, dances by Ignacio Cervantes and María Cervantes’ Fusión de almas. The musical program is paired with poetry by Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda and Plácido, along with projected works by Cuban painters Vicente Escobar and Esteban Chartrand, creating a dialogue among music, literature and visual art.

Founded in Miami in 2017, N Blanco Y Negro has performed in the United States and Europe and received honors at international competitions. Gómez is a Juilliard School graduate, while Cánovas studied at the Kyiv and Odesa State Conservatories in Ukraine.
