Dana and Alden
Nov 07, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Jazz duo Dana and Alden bring saxophone, drums and genre-crossing arrangements to ZeyZey Miami’s Zaku Stage. The performance takes place Saturday, November 7, at 6 p.m., featuring music connected to Papa’s Boat, the Eugene, Oregon duo’s new album.
Brothers Dana and Alden McWayne build their sound around Dana’s saxophone and Alden’s drumming, drawing from jazz while incorporating elements of indie, pop, rap, bossa nova and other global influences. Their latest project was inspired by their maternal grandfather, known as Papa, whose travels and unconventional spirit shaped the album’s themes of memory, movement and self-expression.
Recorded in London with Malcolm Catto, Papa’s Boat features the duo’s backing band along with collaborations that include Mei Semones, Melanie Charles and Brazilian songwriter Marcos Valle. Songs such as “Lighthouse,” “El Gaucho” and “Friendship Is A Boat” use images of water, travel and reflection to connect family history with a wider musical journey.
ZeyZey Miami is an open-air cultural venue in Little Haiti known for live music, DJ events, craft cocktails, natural wines and food from Tacos María, including grass-fed, seed-oil-free tacos.
