Dance NOW! Program I: Sugar and Spice
Dec 18, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
A contemporary reimagining of The Nutcracker anchors Dance NOW! Miami’s first program of the 2026–27 season at Sandrell Rivers Theater. Presented Friday, December 18, Clara recasts the familiar holiday story as a one-act exploration of identity, desire and self-determination, following its central character through encounters with the unknown and forbidden.
The work features a reimagined version of Tchaikovsky’s score by composer Davidson Jaconello, costumes by the Morales sisters and a transformable set designed by Bruce F. Brown. The program also includes Here and There by Dance NOW! Miami co-director Diego Salterini and Hannah Baumgarten’s holiday solo The Gift.
Founded in Miami in 2000 by Baumgarten and Salterini, Dance NOW! Miami creates contemporary dance works while supporting performance and arts education throughout South Florida.
