Dead South Distraction Party With Portraits Of An Apparition
Dec 05, 2025
From: 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM
A full-throttle collision of underground noise, punk spectacle and DIY ferocity takes over Churchill’s Pub as Dead South throws a Distraction Party built for Miami Art Week’s after-hours fringe. Across multiple rooms, more than 30 performers push the night into an all-genre sprawl spanning harsh electronics, unclassifiable punk mutations, ritual noise and the kind of late-night experiments that could only happen at Churchill’s.
At the center of it all is Portraits of an Apparition, the collaborative project from drummer and multi-instrumentalist Jay Weinberg (Suicidal Tendencies, Slipknot) and noise artist Conner Sullivan (Argus, Snooper). Originally assembled for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s Field of Vision festival, the duo forged a blistering sound that merges doom-laden rhythms, serrated electronics and club-adjacent chaos—an unlikely “doomy dance party” drawing on influences from Godflesh to Aphex Twin. Their Miami appearance lands as they work toward their debut EP, channeling the same experimental charge that ignited their first performance.
The bill surrounding them stretches deep into the U.S. and Puerto Rican underground: NYC’s Deli Girls bring confrontational catharsis, GUTTR vs. LATINACROFT vs. “SWEET” warp club and noise conventions, and local and touring acts, from Period Bomb to The Creature Cage, Poncili Creación, Shredded Nerve, The Laundry Room Squelchers, Humanfluidrot, Hard Fun and dozens more.
Visual intensity arrives through an art and photography showcase by Spiral Studios x DrippyEyeProjections, expanding the night into a multi-sensory environment. Food and drinks keep the stamina up for a program that runs late.
This event takes place Friday, December 5.
