Diego Gabaldon: EGO-LIFT
Dec 01, 2026 - Dec 05, 2026
Daily through Dec 05, 2026
Dec 1: 4 PM - 7 PM | Dec 2-4: 11 AM - 7 PM | Dec 5: 11 AM - 6 PM
Cast barbell plates and fitness equipment become sculptural studies of competition, masculinity and the pursuit of physical transformation. Supported by Oolite Arts, Diego Gabaldon’s EGO-LIFT is presented at NADA Miami from Tuesday, December 1, through Saturday, December 5, at Ice Palace Studios in Downtown Miami. The exhibition draws on bodybuilding culture to examine how the drive to reshape the body can also shape identity.
Gabaldon’s practice incorporates imagery from sports archives, online bodybuilding forums and digital fitness communities, exploring the tensions between individual ambition, belonging and bodily autonomy. Born in Miami, the 2026 Oolite Arts resident holds a BFA from Tufts University and has exhibited at venues including Alyssa Davis Gallery and the National YoungArts Foundation.
