Jazz pianist Emmet Cohen recreates the spontaneous, guest-driven atmosphere of his Live From Emmet’s Place sessions with an expanded ensemble at Gusman Concert Hall. The concert takes place Sunday, January 31 as part of the Frost School of Music’s 2026-2027 season, with Cohen joined by bassist Yasushi Nakamura, drummer Joe Farnsworth, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, trumpeter Sean Jones and additional guests to be announced.
A Frost alumnus, Cohen launched Live From Emmet’s Place from his Harlem apartment during the 2020 lockdown, drawing inspiration from the communal spirit of historic rent parties. The livestream series has since surpassed 100 million views and featured musicians across generations, including Christian McBride, Joshua Redman and Samara Joy.
The Frost concert brings that format into a live setting, emphasizing improvisation, musical conversation and an evolving lineup of collaborators.
