Enlightenment Festival: Classical at Church of the Little Flower
Mar 07, 2025
Starting: 8:00 PM
Seraphic Fire presents an evening of classical choral music as part of their annual Enlightenment Festival on Friday, March 7 at the Church of the Little Flower. Under the baton of conductor Patrick Dupre Quigley, a chorus, vocal soloists and a period orchestra will come together to celebrate the works of Marianna Martines, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn, with Rebecca Cypess from Rutgers University serving as the consulting scholar.
The concert will feature the modern world premiere of Martines' O, Virgo, cui salutem, shining a spotlight on this influential yet often overlooked figure of Viennese Classical music, who studied under Haydn and performed alongside Mozart. Attendees will also enjoy Martines' Ah, Berenice, che fai, Haydn's La Roxelane from Symphony No. 63 and Mozart's Missa Brevis in F Major as well as Laudate Dominum from his Solemn Vespers for a Confessor.
This evening offers an opportunity to explore the elegance and sophistication of Classical-era music through a blend of well-known and newly presented works.
